What is a seisiún?
Seisiún is the Irish word for session which is an informal gathering of Irish traditional musicians for the purpose of celebrating their common interest in the music by playing it together in a relaxed, informal setting.
Slow Session Tune List
First Fridays at the Irish Cultural Center and McClelland Library now include two offerings;
Slow Session from 6pm – 7pm – Where musicians can come and get a feel for what playing at a session includes, attendees will be taught typical session songs at a slower pace. So bring your instrument and join in on the fun.
Seisiún from 7pm – 8pm – Hosted by Four Peaks Irish Arts, musicians will fill the cottage with music and fun.
If you always wanted to experience a traditional Irish seisiún, this is your chance! If you’re new and maybe a little unsure, you are most welcome to come and just listen a few times and then reach out if you want to be our headliner!!
